Welcome - Failte!
O'Rourke's bar has been in the family for several generations. Originally in the 1850's, Cotter was the name over the door. The Cotters were farmers who also ran a pub, a small grocery shop & flour & meal store.
In the early 1900's one Jack O'Rourke came from Galway as manager of the Bank of Ireland and lived in the bank house. He fell in love & married Katie Cotter who lived across the Square. Jack & Katie had three children Jimmy, Noel & Marge.
In time Jimmy inherited the business. Jimmy was a vet so the running of the business fell to his wife Norrie (nee Foley). Jimmy & Norrie handed the business on to their eldest son Jack in 1972.
Jack still runs the business to this day with the help of his wife Angela(nee Moriarty) & their six children & of course our one & only Helen. It has evolved over the years and is now a bar with townhouse Accommodation. So on we go into the future with sincere thanks to our loyal customers & as always a warm welcome or a cead mile failte awaits customers old and new.
